Whitening toothpaste with bicarbonate in it and a tooth bush to brush it on.

Thank you, but with 800 square feet I do not plan on getting on my knees and scrub.

  • Baking soda and hydrogen peroxide seem to work best, but here's a link with a few possibilities, Al:

    • I completely understand...personally, I would hire professionals to come in and clean it. They have the equipment and will seal it after it's clean, Good luck, Al.

    Hi Al,

Cleaning grout is such a tedious process (speaking from experience). Tackling one section at a time helps. Here is the best way to clean your grout:

Mix together 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 tsp dish soap. Apply cleaning mixture onto grout, wait 5-10 minutes, scrub and rinse.

    Hope this helps!

First, wipe down grout with hot water to remove surface dirt and grime. Then mix 1:1 vinegar and water into a spray bottle and spray the grout. Let it sit for 5-10 min then scrub with a brush.

  • Hi Al - This is the shower cleaner that we use to help keep grout and tiles clean and minimize the mildew - it works on kitchen grout too. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly

best solution for you is to call in a professional tile cleaning company to clean and seal your tile. 800 ft is to large an area for you to tackle yourself

Thanks Meg, I think it's time to hire a professional service company.

I have done it myself before with a broom handle and tapered brush

and mild solution of muriatic acid. Took two days to finish.

Not sold on whether or not sealing the grout does that much good.

You still have to clean the grout anyway. Maybe it cleans easier, but I have not heard that it actually does.

Yes Al I think that is the way to go. Ive done mine in the past with a toothbrush and on my hands and knees scrubbing endlessly which I no longer desire to do. I don't have the time or strength to attempt this tedious cleaning job. So Ive called in professional grout cleaning companies that have done a terrific job. They have the equipment to get the job done. They say to seal it so it isn't as porous and mildew wont invade the grout as quickly as with unsealed grout but that's up to you.
