How can I attach decorations to stone?
The outside surface of my house is stone. The frame around the door is metal. Is there anything I can use to attach my green garland and lights around the door? I have tried Command hooks but they do not stick on the uneven surface in the cold, and I cannot put nails or holes in the stone or metal.
Do you have a place where you can try Christmas light hooks. They slid in small spaces.
Command Hooks. They will work great for the lights and depending on how heavy your garland is perhaps that too.
What about directly on the door ? Can you glue magnets to the garland then stick them to the door? Check to make sure magnets stick to your door first ! It won't work with aluminum...
What about using Command hooks, They would easily stick to the metal and come off whenever you're thru.
I found an article that said:
You should only apply Command strips when the temperature is above 15°F. (This obviously isn’t as much of a concern when you’re applying them indoors, but it could make a difference for anyone hanging them up outside during the winter.) The strips should stay stuck pretty much anywhere as long as the temperature is above -20°F and below 125°F.
Try a hot glue gun to attach a few zip ties then attach lights & garland to zip ties. You will need to see which works best on metal or the stone. And just try one on each and hang something on it overnight when it gets really cold to see which holds up.Then do your decor.Just use more glued on zip ties spaced out if it doesn't hold wieght. Then after you are done with holidays you can remove little dabs of hot glue & zip ties with rubbing/isopropyl alcohol & cotton swab. https://www.favecrafts.com/Techniques/How-to-Remove-Hot-Glue#How%20to%20Remove%20Hot%20Glue%20from%20Metal,%20Wood,%20Other%20Surfaces
Wow! That might work! Thanks for the great idea.
