Jenny there are so many things out now. Command hooks work well and I always use heavier than they say. Like if my hanging was 4 lbs and the hook is for 5 lbs I will go
to the 8lb hook.
Drywall
picture hangers drill into the wall and anchor themselves in.
Mit depends on what you’re hanging. Anything can be filled in with drywall
compound later but is a bigger project.
Good luck!
3M Command Hooks.
Hi Jenny, you can try monkey hooks

Heavy objects need good support. A screw driven into a wall stud is best - assuming the object will be placed at that location. The screw hole can be filled with spackle and touched up with some paint to make it disappear. Molly screws or heavy-duty wall anchors will work if you can't hit a stud. These are harder or impossible to remove. filling hole with spackle and painting helps hide them. Maybe hang something else over the hanger in the future.
I have the same concern. We will be adding a narrow ledge on my 3 walls so I can change pics at will.
