How should I redo my hearth?

Just had new floors put in and now hearth is lower so I have alittle room for tile, porcelain or maybe brick? Any suggestions? And when it’s in what goes between tile and flooring? Some type of molding maybe.. and any color suggestions..walls are light green/gray and fireplace gray as you can see. Plus I know my mantle is ugly.. just a piece of wood but there’s nothing I can do right now.. out of money :)
Anyone think the white trim needs to be gray also? Looks like it stands out.. i obviously need to paint the right side.
your mantle is fine but if you want an inexpensive change you could paint it brown, coord. w/ the floor. You may have to use grout in between the tiles if you go that route...and personally I would get something that might coord. w/yr flooring becuz it's prob. gonna be there awhile...there hearth rugs as well, good luck.
You could definitely benefit by using a tile (check with tile place for one that will not be damaged by an errant spark), or even brick. Brick can be installed in one or more rows to give you a raised, or just slightly raised hearth. It will protect your floors more from any sparks that may escape the fireplace, and, if high enough, give you a place to sit for a spell when coming in from the brutal cold, to warm yourself quickly. I love a raised hearth. I think it gives the room a more homey and richer feel. Of course, that is just my opinion.
Any color brick would work with the gray. You could use red or a mix to set it off and give a pop of color, or you could try to quietly blend it into your room. Just a matter or choice. I would get some paint chips of your wall color or close, and take them with you to choose color of brick or tile. Brick just requires any occasional vacuuming to keep clean. Tile maybe a quick wipe with a damp cloth.

You can Brick/tile directly over the existing tile. Use a latex modified thinset. Grout in between the tiles. Transition molding between the tile and floor. Pick a medium color in the flooring for the tile. This way it will blend with the floor and not stand out.

If my home, I would put a Fender around to match in with white Skirting Board.
Then if you want to you could raise the hearth with Ceramic Floor Tiles Grey/white.
This would match with you ecor perfectly and allow you to use Bright /Pastel colors
in way of Cushion? Rug? Ornament or flowers on Mantel.
I would repaint the right side. Then using a small paint brush, paint the grout lines (between the bricks) on the fireplace white. To match. I would paint the top of it a off white with blotches of light brown.
Yes, yes, yes, paint that white trim to match your fireplace surround. You have such great light in this room that you should consider lightening up that dark gray paint. It kinda looks like a black hole. Consider painting the stucco surround but this time use a matte paint instead. The sheen makes it look "loud". For your hearth, consider slate. You can even find sheet tile in slate that has a subtle green veining. And it's pretty inexpensive. Use a dark grout. Take it up a notch and use the slate on your surround. While the slate will also be dark, it will add texture and interest and become a real feature in your room.
i would only change mantel or repaint it .. it is pretty the way it is and safe
