Here in Arizona the holidays feel so different from growing up in Michigan. I definitely miss those white Christmas, but it sure is nice to put up the holiday decorations in the warm weather! So I thought what better decoration than a cactus for our warm Christmas season. Here is to the Arizona Christmas!

I started by getting my man to cut out my cactus that I drew on quarter inch ply wood. He is super sturdy with the jig saw and if I can get him to do it that's even better. icon

I then used 2x2" s and cut them into 8" pieces. ( 2 of them I'll sandwich to use as my stand)

I spray painted the cactus green and left the stand natural wood...kind of to look like dirt or natural and earthy. Then I just used my nail gun with 2.5" nails and shot them in both sides- and as you see it stands perfectly! This could even be used next to the pool this summer, but I wanted it for the front yard as a Christmas decoration.

It was looking good on my porch but I knew that it needed a little something!

So I added a Santa hat....

....but wanted just a little more and saw these great dollar store scarfs for the holidays and tied it around the cactus. I love it! I might even add some lights. This simple 15 Min. project was fun and super easy for me. icon Hubby loved it too! Merry Christmas from the Desert!
