We all like to get presents for the holidays. But sometimes it is fun to have a nice wrapping on the outside before we open up the gift. I usually do paper gift wrapping but one year I came up with an idea that is not only earth friendly but also very frugal. And it can be used as a gift itself.

It looks great right? It is not paper gift wrapping but actually fabric pieces from an old dress I had. The dress no longer fit so instead of getting rid of it, I chose to keep the fabric and re-purpose it as gift wrap. And it has that great vintage look I love.

I do that all the time, re-purpose old clothes into something else.

Adding a bit of lace instead of the usual ribbon also adds something special.

It can even be done with flannel material from an old shirt.

The tag was created using a Christmas card. Just cut it to the shape you want and add a hole.

You can even use old fabric and twist the excess around to make it look special.

This one with the flowers was from an old dress I had. The piece of fabric is cut square and can be reused as a scarf as well as doing double duty as gift wrapping.

You can't beat that! A gift wrap and a gift!
