How can I really remove the hard water stains from glass shower doors?

I have tried many different products, vinegar, etc but still have these real fine streaks of built-up calcium on the shower doors.

There is a product called The Works. You can buy it from Dollar Tree. It works fantastically! After I use that on my shower door, then every time I take a shower, when I'm done, I use a squeegee to remove the water from the door. It works great. No streaks. No calcium buildup. Just clean clear glass!

That is exactly what I do, and if there is a spot that is stubborn I use a Magic Eraser,

Bar Keeper's Friend is my go-to, non-toxic solution, Deb.

For a more chemical solution, get some CLR from the hardware store.

    Cooking Spray like Pam

Since oil breaks down lime deposits, simply spray a bit of oil directly on your dirty shower door to clear away the lime deposits and dirt real quick. Use a kitchen scrubby to clean off the crud. The fine coating left behind will repel water.

HILLO Deborah! I TOTALLY AGREE WITH LYNN! YOU MUST WEAR RUBBER GLOVES!!!! As CLR does absorb into the skin... Start at the top of door and squirt a 1' section across door, let solution slide down door as you gently scrub in circular motion with a old soft toothbrush. When you've gotten to the bottom of door with that 1', move atop and do another 1' section. ( doing 1' sections from top to bottom assures that your not missing any areas of door regardless if some areas don't have spots,) Once all area is coated and gently scrubbed, you'll really need to rinse door well, fresh water and a sponge. Towel or shammy door completely dry, then put Hydrogen Peroxide in a mister bottle (don't dilute with water,,, just Hydro) then spray on door, wipe down, IN FIRM, CIRCULAR MOTION, with paper towels, again working in 1' sections top to bottom. The peroxide will break down any streaks. (OPTIONAL) finish by buffing entire door with newspaper. the ink in the newspaper also pulls off streaks. BUT MOST OF ALL MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THOURALLY RINSE "ALL" THE CLR OFF GLASS, or you will be fighting "against" the ending result. hope this helps... BLESSINGS TO YOU

  • Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 solution of Dawn dish soap and vinegar. Spray it on the hard water stains and let it work. If they are tougher stains, you may have to scrub with a plastic scrubbie!

    1. Soak Glass in White Vinegar

Wearing gloves, Roberson says to dip paper towels into the hot vinegar and stick them to your shower glass. "The slightly acidic nature of vinegar allows it to soak into and loosen the mineral deposits," he says. Let the vinegar sit for 30 to 60 minutes, then remove the paper towels. To keep the glass wet during this time, Roberson says to spray the paper towels occasionally with vinegar from a spray bottle.

    2. Wipe Down Shower Door

Remove the paper towels when time is up, then sprinkle a damp rag or sponge with a generous amount of baking soda and wipe down the shower door gently. "Avoid vigorously scrubbing, which could scratch the shower door," Roberson says.

    3. Rinse With Distilled Water

Rinse away any residual vinegar and baking soda by pouring distilled water over the glass. By now, the surface should be glistening, but if any limescale remains, Roberson says to repeat the baking soda scrub until all build-up has been removed. Dry with a microfiber towel.

I use a mixture of blue dawn dish soap and vinegar. In a 32 oz empty water bottle add 5-6 oz blue dawn and fill with vinegar. Cut slits in the cap and spritz all over the shower. Clean with a dollar store broom dedicated to this process. Rinse well.
