  • You may not care for them but it appears they are required in some form to hold up the cabinets above? Is that correct?

Why not make small shelves for your spices or favorite mugs, etc. If they have to be there, use them.

Hi, Are they in the Kitchen and holding something up, or purely decoration? If just decoration, then decorate or remove, If being a support for something, consider how you will support the item without keeping these legs!

  • Painting them white or black would give them a whole different feel. White will look farmhouse, black will disappear and you'll be able to see past them.

you can saw the leg off neat the top. Make sure it is straight. buy a new leg or just a piece of wood in the shape and height you need. Use a double ended wood screw, drill a pilot hole in each piece. It screws into the unit about 1/2 way and then the leg uses the other threaded end. Apply wood glue between the joint. Now you have a new leg style with a strong connection without compromising the construction of the top piece .

Like others have stated depends on their purpose, but if they need to stay. You could incorporate some shelves in the middle and have about three of them, up and down the posts. This way it adds to storage, and gives it a newer look and purpose.

    Hello again,

Well I used Chrome Wardrobe fittings to make my supports, so I guess you do the same if you liked the idea, but empty cupboards first and support with something temporary before you take them away. You could ofcourse use something like Wrought Iron or fit a cabinet to worktop spice rack or shelf unit instead. Good luck!

Is it possible to remove the upper cabinets and these spindles and keep the lower cabinets? If possible, it will open up your room and give a different look. Otherwise the shelf idea or even painting them black might help. Pieces of pipe...painted gold, silver or another color to replace the spindles would be good also.

I agree with Pat. I took out my upper cabinets. It opened up the space and gave the kitchen and eating area an updated look. If you need the cabinets, remove the spindles and put an updated brace in there instead.

I would love to see a better picture.. I can understand if removing the is not an option.. maybe we can make them into something like a rack or maybe is we ad bars from one end to the other.... you can hang some cute pots, maybe 2, and make it into a little herb rack.. would love to see another angel.
