How do I paint a double molded sink?

We have a double bath vanity, the top is molded with double sinks, looks sort of like fake marble. I priced them and they are about 1K, way too much so I found a can of paint that claims to be for that use and am l little hesitant to try. The original is a yellowish cream and I want more of a brown or darker taupe. I painted the wooden vanity white and don't like the yellowish tones of the top. Does it turn out well, and is it hard to do?

Hi. What you have is cultured marble. It is made up of resin and marble dust, then the top is polished and sealed. You can break the sealer by sanding and a resin based paint will adhere to the surface. Remove the faucet and drain plug. Taping and painting around them will show, no matter how good a tape job you do. Follow the directions closely on your resin paint and prep well. The preparation is the most important thing in this type of paint job. Use the proper sandpaper and really sand well. Vacuum any reside from the sanding and use a tack cloth to finish the cleaning.
This is a job you can do. Just take your time and do it well. Happy DIY'ing!
Just a note , yes you can do it, but look closely around drain for any hairline cracks. If there are some the paint job will fail and start to peel. Also those tops and sinks only have a 5 year warranty and start to deteriorate, , first around the drain and start to leak. Buy some time with the paint, but start saving up for another top. I'd use a different product. Hope it works out for you
