How can I decorate my kitchen windows?

I want something over my white kitchen windows that is not the typical window topper. I am very farm house and yes, I do live on a farm,

I hung tension rod filled with old all copper kitchen utensils(ladels,whisks,lrg serving spoons & so on) in my kitchen window,in office area I used tension rod and hung a collection of old antique horse bits,in another sun filled window I used tension rod and filled it with hanging glass/cut crystal/ prisms.When I need to clean them just remove the whole tension rod with objects on it and dunk several times in flat plastic tub or bathtub filled with warm soapy water, rinse several times(make sure water is out of ladels) shake them off some and rehang the rod with objects.

  You have great ideas for my window. I wanted "things" to add some interest and you have started me on the hunt for just the right things. I like the idea of crystals, I get direct sun there and I love the rainbows dancing in the walls. Merry Christmas !!

  I got real glass ones(rainbows are better) of all shapes,cuts,sizes, new & old ones(from old chandeliers)on Ebay some as big as 6-8's long and as small as 1" then used white heavy duty fishing line(Ultra Dyneema 0.10mm braided) I got from Amazon or Ebay. It's easy to tie and the crystals don't cut thru it easily. I figured out the size of "valance"area I needed to cover by laying them out on table to size of area needed then started by staggering them,all different hieghts and sizes to fill it in. It really is beautiful filling the whole room with little rainbows everywhere all over ceiling walls floor & even out & down the hallway.I love it especially now when the winter sun is low rising early in the morning in that window.Makes me happy.

I have short white sheers over my short window over my sink....have tie backs and right now at Christmas time, my tie backs are gold rope with a poinsettia on each side. I think the curtains soften the look of the cabinets. Have tried a valance but didn't like that at all so back to the short sheers.

I hung a FARMHOUSE sign similar to this one and love it. I also have a farmhouse, built in the 1880's sitting on 85 acres, 20 of which is cotton. It will be our permanent home after retirement.
