If you can, remove that contact paper and evaluate the condition of what’s underneath. Make any repairs to that surface, clean it, and then I’d paint. New paint is a game changer, and it can be an affordable way to change the look of things. If you can afford it, new cabinet hardware can make a big difference too, but sometimes that can be pricey.
