    I would use an old wooden step ladder. Put a board through the steps on 3 or so levels and use the rustic look to accent the Christmas scenes. Also, I would add quilt batting type blankets for the snow and a mirror for the "skating" circle in town. Just some ideas.

    We made several of these last year! Here is a link that includes the Home Depot project pattern with material list, tools needed and directions. It got a little tricky getting the angles to match at the tips--especially the top tip of the tree. We had to build this one layer at a time--adjusting the angle cuts as we worked upwards. So--don't cut your angles all at once and expect that they will go together nicely. If you can spray paint these it would work the best--it was hard to get the paint brush into the inside angle cuts.
