I grew up with well water and my dad checked the levels in our water daily then treated as indicated from the tests. He went to classes to be able to do this safely and get all levels of chemicals in the proper balance. If you have a Co-Op store in your area, that would be a good resource for this issue.

The pH of our well water is high due to the amount of limestone in the ground. For our aquariums, we use a reverse osmosis filter. For the house, we use a regular water filter which helps quite a bit. If you really need 7.5 pH, you're going to have to do some measuring and math. Vinegar is the go-to inexpensive acid to neutralize high pH water. Measure out a gallon of your water, test it with a pH strip, then add about 5 drops of white vinegar at a time and stir well until you get your 7.5 reading. That way you know how many drops of vinegar is needed to bring it to neutral. A by-product of this will also be some calcium crystals at the bottom of your bucket. Since you can't always get out the calcium carbonate, you'll need to use vinegar baths for your faucets, shower heads and coffee maker every so often.

Also know that mammals can consume alkaline water with little problem - since we consume a LOT of acid in our food and drink. Hope that helps.

The house water systems work really well, or you can just put them on the kitchen faucet where you get your drinking water. We used a whole house when our middle child was unable to drink formula without throwing up due to the water, once he was done breast feeding (he was a glutton and I couldn't produce enough as often as he wanted it). Our city water at that house was horrible. We do use a reverse osmosis for our salt water aquariums, but just faucet water for our fresh water aquariums. The water in this city is much better.

Alkaline is good! It is better to have the ph level too alkaline than too acidic. That is just my opinion based on what all I read in cancer research. (cancer and yeast cannot grow in alkaline base body) . LIke I said, I am no doctor, I have just read that over and over and heard it from health officials.
