1. If the blood stain you’re trying to remove is dry, go ahead and brush it with a steel brush to loosen the stain. This action will remove the surface deposit.
2. Mix one teaspoon of hand dishwashing detergent with two cups of cold water.
3. Take a clean, white cloth and dip it in the detergent solution you just mixed.
4. Blot directly on the blood stain, repeatedly.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the stain has disappeared.

If this process does not get blood out of your carpet, follow these steps as an alternative stain removal option.

1. Mix one-half cup of warm water with one tablespoon of ammonia.
2. Using a cloth or sponge, apply the ammonia solution directly onto the blood stain .

4. Apply a sponge dipped in cold water directly to the stain, and blot dry.

I find peroxide very helpful, our dog used to have a vaculitis ear tip poorly healing wound that would bleed so easily, the spray bottle of peroxide easily immediately removed the splatter from walls cabinets carpet and floors.

Commercial carpet cleaner with the Oxi additive would be helpful too.

Spit on the blood spot. Let saliva soak in then rub with dry cloth. Saliva begins the digestive process and will break down body fluids. I tried this on an upholstered chair seat worked great. Good luck.

There is a pet stain product called ECO-88 that is absolutely amazing at removing blood stains.

There are many products out there, like Oxy Clean, or other peroxide based stain removers. Before that, dampen the blood spot and blot up as much as you can, repeat a few times. Then the cleaner.

Always check an inconspicuous spot before using chemicals on your carpet to make sure it won't change the color. Peroxide is good, but may change the color. Oxi type things will help. Cold water is good, never any heat to the water, it will set the blood stain.
