When is the best time to cut back out Cannas?

We live in Arkansas and we leave our cannas in the grown all year When is the best time to cut them back or have I already messed up?

    You're lucky that you don't have to dig them up! I am guessing you don't have to worry much about freezing. I'd cut them down asap, to try and avoid rotting and damage

      we do have cold weather and freezing in N.E. Arkansas but not as bad as other cold weather states. Thank you for your suggestions. I am going to do all three suggestions and in the spring I will see which one works best.

    Just let them die back naturally then cut them off the more they die back naturally the better for the tubers in ground. The tubers won't survive ground freeze. So depending where you live dig up tubers put in cardboard box to save for next year. Layer newspaper between them for air circulation don't keep tubers in freezing conditions
