How do I get rid of ants?

My parents live in a single level townhome in southern MN and have ants living (we think) in the wall and outlet in kitchen. Our temps have bee below freezing for some time now and still finding the ants. Any ideas on how to get rid of them once and for all? Help driving my mom buggy! Lol

Diatomaceous earth may be your answer. Available at Lowes & Home Depot. Here's an article on it. The only issue I have is that you leave the powder out. It still works even if it gets wet, as long as it isn't washed away.

Kelli is correct. That is what I would do. May need to do it a few times. I also would sprinkle Jiffy Muffin mix around the area for stragglers. Ants can't digest it. They take it back to the nest eat it and die.

AMDRO ant bait get it Lowes, etc. JUst put it on trail outside entrance to where they come & go ants carry it to nest and kill queen then nest dies. Gone in 1 day. It is poison so becareful of pets and kids. Muffin mix only works if you mix Boric Acid in it it is the same thing as commercial ant baits basically. Just use the AMDRO

Terro brand ant ttaps are the only ones that worked for me. Wipe down all surfaces with vinegar. This destroys any "paths" a scout ant has put down for the others to follow. Then put the ant bait traps where ever you think they may be coming in. Look for the ant hill putside and destroy it.

Hi Kim, I have had a bad problem with ants too and I used Combat Ant Killing Bait Strips. They were like coming in single file like you see in the cartoons. I tried everything, but the combat strips killed them off within a week. It was so frustrating I almost danced a jig when it killed them off. Give it a try. I think it will work for you too.

Different types of ants in the world. So different ways to kill them off.If its carpenter ants and get into your electrical and wood of your house, try diamtomaceous earth (food server type).Because you cant really spray them if you dont know where the colony is at.Good luck
