How do I decide the proper height of shelves next to a mantle?

Hi Kristina, you can hang them at 4-4.5 feet from the floor and add more that go a bit higher, like 5 feet, you don't want to go too high or you can't see the items on the shelves

You can hang them at whatever height looks best to you! You don't have to keep them level with the mantle
