How can I lay new flooring in my laundry room?

I purchased a rubber like antifatigue mat 36"x78". I was going to cut this to size and use in my laundry room under washer and dryer. What is your opinion of this? Pros? Cons? I was not going to use any adhesive just put over plywood which is of course over sub floor. I want your opinion before I proceed. Thanks

Why not? It seems like it would even help with the vibration of the machines. You can put some trim around the edges and make it look more intentional. Make sure your door will still close if that is an issue. Cheap and fast. I like it. You may find that your machines sink down into it over time. Make sure they are level to begin with and check them from time to time. The one good thing about tile is that if you have a flood, your subfloors don't get ruined. But, other than that, I can't really see any drawbacks. I am assuming the size you mentioned is going to cover the whole floor. If not, you do not want to leave the plywood exposed.

Do whatever the laundry manufacturers says you can do. Why do you want to do the flooring? Laundry areas are not meant to be showcases, so simple is best.

Your idea actually sounds unique and very workable. As Seth stated, the weight of the appliances will likely sink into the mat but seems to be an excellent idea and will help with any vibration and actually absorb some of the laundry-type sounds. Hope it works well for you!

Interesting. Just like putting pads on talble and chair feet. It will absorb and reduce vibrations. Just make sure they are level side to side and front to back or they will bounce around. Otherwise I don't see any problems.

We just bought some anti-vibration rubber feet that fit under washer feet for about $20 at Lowe's. It does a great job of reducing vibration that was annoying and shook the floor in an adjacent room before. Your idea of using the mat was my first thought.
