How do I remove kitchen linoleum flooring to check for hardwood?

We Plan to remove Linoleum . Were hopeful that there’s wood underneath be several layers, but wondered what the best way to do that would be because we think there may be with

    I would pick a spot where it's not noticeable like under the frig or under the dishwasher (if it's portable). Using a utility knife, cut a 2-inch square. Remove one layer at a time & you will know for sure what's underneath it & how hard it will be to pull up everything. If you change your mind, your little test square won't show.
