Would like to replace my kitchen counters with wood. Am on a very limited budget. Must be easy project for a 72 year young widow.

Hi. Go to your local lumberyard and see if you can special order yellow pine in wide boards. A countertop is typically 24-1/2 to 25 inches deep. Use a marine varnish to finish the job. Cutting boards are recommended rather than cutting directly on the finished countertop. Happy DIY'ing!

I just added a faux butcherblock countertop by using strips of plywood cut and doing alternating stain colors. . then poly. cost wad 5 dollars
