How do I get rid of Holly Hocks?

They are taking over the yard. Trying to pull them is like trying to pull up trees. Spraying them doesn't seem to do more than make them sick.

I love Holly Hocks!! They are so beautiful. I can't imagine trying to get rid of them! If you really must remove them, I suggest watering the ground until it is soft and then shoveling them up.

  • They are very prolific seeders, I have them coming up all over the place too and always where I don't want them. I just dig them out when they are young and while they are easy to dig out. While they are pretty, I don't want them in the middle of the lawn.

Hi, you should water the ground then you will be able to pull them easier, also, before you start that you will want to cut the seed pods off so you are not replanting them when pulling on them.
