I'm in AZ too and here it's not what survives the winter it's from Mar-Oct and the scalding sun,& such high temperature changes from day to night thru winter mos.. Go down to your Local Garden or Plant Centre and see what they have on sale, as Plants will be different from area to area that will survive in your conditions.
