How do I create a natural garden under an oak tree?

Not sure about Florida but I use hostas and coleus plants. They are very colorful, easy to propagate, and will accent the limestone path nicely.

Note that oak trees emit alleopathic compounds that can make it difficult for other plants to grow beneath them.
