How do you paint paneling?

Hi Anna! Wash it with warm water and dawn dish soap. Wipe it clean with a different rag. From there I would 100% use a primer. It will help the paint adhere to the paneling so that it doesn't scrape off. Not to mention, less coats of the paint color. Best of luck!

I would clean it well first. Then apply a primer and then one or two coats of the best paint you can afford. They also make great paints now that have the primer in it. One or two coats of that may be all you need.

Yes wash prime and paint. We have a log cabin and too much wood is dark and dreary. We are quite pleased the previous homeowner placed paneling over log walls in two bedrooms and painted it a light color. I would suggest not to hesitare to your paint paneling for a room brightening update.

Yes, you should prime first, or use a paint&primer. If your using chalk paint you don't need to prime.

I would wash it with some mild soap and water to see if you can get the dust off of it. Then I would get a good bonding primer to paint on it first then a latex paint next.

I like to clean with Krud Kutter before I paint anything. And then paint a good bonding primer like Kilz or Zinnser before you paint whatever paint you would like,
