Do you have a box of curtain rings waiting for inspiration? They are perfect for making a variety of Christmas decorations with a few materials you have to hand.

My first decoration to inspire you is a two dimensional Christmas tree. Wrap ten curtain rings in green yarn, and two in a brown yarn. Create a tree shape, joining either by wrapping with co-ordinating yarn or using a glue gun. Create mini bows and add using an adhesive.

The second upcycled Christmas decoration is created by spray painting the curtain ring - I have used a copper spray by Rustoleum. Hand a mini wooden decoration inside the ring using invisible thread.

For the third decoration wrap a curtain ring in yarn. Create a pompom sized to fit, hang inside the wrapped ring.

For the fourth decoration thread beads into a thin yarn then wrap the curtain ring. Change up the size of beads to create different effects.

I have saved my personal favorite until the end. Cut strips of fabric and shiny ribbon. Tie around the curtain ring to create a mini rag wreath. I have placed all my knots on the outer edge and trimmed the fabric and ribbon the the same length.

I would love to know what you do with old curtain rings.
