I don't understand your question
I have a hallways that is only 4 feet wide but I always keep piling many things along the wall. Probably I could build a stand were I could organize handbags and winter gadgets.
You want a hallway mud room then.

I would get an wooden open cube shelf, that you can turn sideways , IKEA sells them ! so instead of a shelf it is more like a bench with compartments . And put a fitted square basket ( also at IKEA, made especially for the shelf unit ) each cube can be designated to a person or an item , like goves, scarves, hats .... Then hang hooks on the wall above them for coats and or bookbags . You can put a cushion on the unit , so it is comfortable to sit on, while putting on shoes or boots. You can put an umbrella stand near the door and a boot tray for shoes and boots .
Maria: I have a narrow hallway that doubles as a mud room too! I solved it (in a neat and inexpensive way) with these:

and I bought these in brown:

We put a bench in with storage underneath and a coat rack above also with shelves above for hats, gloves etc. Then rubber mats help keep snow dripping boots from messing up the floor. We bought the kind with a lip on them as we have lots of snow and mud and no matter how hard you try you can't get it all off and children do not bother. The rubber mats helped especially with a bench for them to sit down to take them off. We added extra hooks for scarves and jackets as well as winter coats (some days are warmer) and an umbrella stand from an old antique horse harness to add a little charm. Hope this gives you some ideas, Maria.
