Giani countertop paint is a good product. Here are some Hometalk projects on the subject:

  • They make countertop renovation kits like THIS ONE. All instructions are in the kit. I think they last really well, we bought a house with the countertops that were restored with a kit like this and it's still going strong!

Hi Michele, there are a few good countertop kits available. One is Giani and the other available at home improvement stores is Rustoleum kit. They provide very in-depth instructions so a rookie can have success. If you enter "Rustoleum Counter Kit" into your google search bar you can see a video tutorial.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions!

Maybe I WILL get a new kitchen for 2019!

My kitchen is from the '60s and I don't have a lot of money to spend on fixing it up so this may at least give me a start!

Wow! You know 60's kitchens are back in style. Maybe you could work w/ what you have and just add more cool retro pieces. Sure would like to see pictures of it and I could give you good ideas. I just love vintage kitchens and have been decorating mine with old fashion utensils, vintage spice tins, barn wood accents etc.
