I love giving vintage jewelry boxes new life. It is as simple as painting it a new color. Watch as I take this boring dated old wood look and update it to a fun farmhouse antiqued teal color.
First step is to make all repairs and clean the jewelry box well. I removed the glass and mirror too for a nice crisp paint job. Touch ups were made around the edge where the lining was loose and removed till later in the process.
Using House and Canvas paint in antique teal color I applied 2 coats. It was all distressed once dry to give a nice aged look followed by ageing wax which further ages it, deepens the color and gives dimension to the paint.
The lining was reglued securely into the top as was the mirror. The glass was given my favorite faux mercury glass treatment which looks perfect with the teal color and the vintage vibe of the piece.
The vintage jewelry box is now ready to hold loads of treasures and jewels and give someones room personality. No longer dowdy and drab but rather fancy and fab!!
