You need to get rid of them everywhere or just getting them off pets won't matter. Carpet,car,upholstery,pet bedding,yard. Hi this is Peggy. First you must get a flea drop that goes between their ears on cats and on the back of dogs. Be sure to talk to your vet, some of the cheaper ones you buy at places like grocery or walmart can make you pet very sick. Be sure to vacuum floors and furniture daily. If you and your pets can leave you house for a few hours you can use a flea bomb you can get at the vet or hardware store, just be sure nothing alive is still in your home. I have had this problem and it takes a lot of work but you can do it. You may also want to treat your pets every month. (I do) it will prevent this from happening again. Use Dawn liquid dish soap to bathe them with.
Not only do the animals need to be treated, but the entire house and yard as well.
