Buy a roll of dry wall tape. It is self adhesive. Place over crack. Spackling or joint compound with 4" spatula blade. Sand edges or use a damp cloth to smooth edges out, feathering thinner to blend in with existing wall. Repaint.
Yes, use drywall tape and spackle. It's not a hard job, it just requires patience to do it so the patch doesn't show.
