How can I paint my bathroom floor?

Nan W.GkPeggy Burnette

I had carpet in my bathroom, I ripped it up and now I'm stuck with the bare wood, husband won't put down any flooring or help at all. What would be the best, easiest way to paint or something, that I can do myself to my bathroom floor, fairly big size ? I need some good ideas, I can't stand the floor being this way ! As I said, I have no help at all. Thanks so much for any ideas !N. Messer

Hi Nan, sorry you are having a problem with your bathroom floor. I have done peal and stick tiles myself and they came out great, plus they are not very expensive. The people at any hardware ( lowes etc) are always helpful too. Good luck and I know you will do a beautiful job.

Hello Nan! You can easily install vinyl floor squares or a floating wood plank floor yourself. The vinyl squares are easy and you only need a utility knife and ruler to cut the squares. There are good instructions in the package and you can watch Youtube videos to help you out. If you want a plank floor it is best to cut the planks with a chop saw--some instructions tell you that you can use a utility knife but it is a struggle. Most floating floors click together and once you get the hang of the click they look beautiful. You may have to pull the toilet to install the floors under the toilet. Buy a new wax ring or two to put it back. I have installed several floors on my own--vinyl squares and wood planks. Make sure you have the right sub floor under the flooring you choose. Do you have any DIY friends who would be happy to help you?

Nan: Congrats for getting rid of the carpeting -- good move! ...and sorry that you won't have any help with the new project.

I agree with Peggy: peel and stick tiles would be inexpensive and relatively easy to install. Some of these are really beautiful!

Yeah I don't understand why anyone puts carpet in a bathroom ! I do like the idea of the peel and stick tiles, seems like something I could do !
