How do I resurface a kitchen sink?

Hi Ron! Personally, I have never been happy with DIY resurfacing on sinks. There are kits and all kinds of tutorials online, but, it is often cheaper and easier to replace an outdated sink. A kitchen sink gets a lot of wear and tear.

It won't hold up, will peel.

Nothing will hold up to constant water contact. Even the kits won't last. Cheaper to replace.

NAaaa, They make a really good finish for that and it does hold up if you follow the directions. It's called Tub & Tile refinishing kit... I think by Rustoleum . Found it... worth a try. Has Good reviews too!

Take a good photo to the paint department of the home improvement store and ask them what will work for you. They have the best selection, the most up-to-date materials and most important, the most informative sales staff to get you what you need for a professional job.

You can also have it professionally re-enameled. I had an old sink redone. I wanted to keep it in my laundry room. Check the "yellow pages" or local big box store for professionals that do this. I paid around $150 for a very large single bowl sink. 5 yrs later I am still pleased.

Think seriously about both paths. DIY can be a bit pricey and may not work. Getting a pro to re-do is more expensive due to labor. Then there is replacing the sink. A brand new sink can be as cheap or expensive as you like. Having done face lifts on my rental houses, my choice would be to measure the current sink and cabinet. Go to a thrift store or ReStore and find a second-hand sink that will fit your cabinet. You can always cut the hole bigger but it's rough making it smaller! LOL Don't forget that your time is worth alot!
