They do get cloudy . My favorite cleaner is a foam called Sprayway. Comes in a can, blue cap. ammonia free, works great . Wal-Mart carries it.

Straight isopropyl/rubbing alcohol and clean white cloth(no fabric softener leaves smudges & streaks) or newspaper. Don't use paper towels they are either coated or made with chemical to increase absorption causing smearing, smudging, streaking. Do one side of window one direction(horizontal) other side (vertical) then you'll be able to tell which side is not as clean easier.

there was a DIY project, where a person made a complete outdoor bench set with nothing but pallets. then they just made simple coverings for their quests to sit on. does anyone recall this project. I like to make it for my daughter.

Your problem may be in part due to "off gassing" of cabinets, carpets, etc.

Add some plants that clean your home's environment of benzene, formaldehyde, etc.

Microfiber cloth, Dawn dish soap and water will cut through the film. Use Sprayway glass cleaner and a clean microfiber cloth that has not been exposed to fabric softener for best cleaning. Applying cleaner to cloth rather than directly to glass sometimes improves results.

I use Glass Plus with a micro fiber cloth. If the windows are dirty (like exterior) I wash the windows first before using the Glass Plus. Windex will work also but find Glass Plus works easier.
