I have my own carpet cleaner, but you can rent machines at most grocery stores. They are relatively cheap to rent and easy to use.
Rent a carpet shampooer and follow the directions. One word of caution: Whatever method you use, make sure you get ALL the soap out or as soap attracts dirt and the carpet will have to be cleaned again - sooner.
We own a carpet shampooer and use a non toxic cleaner in it. You can rent them to shampoo the carpets for so much a day from many grocery stores. Hope this helps.
Rent a carpet cleaner from Home depot. They clean very well and you can purchase the cleaner from them at the same time as the rental. It is a very cost efficient way to clean without having to have someone come in and clean your carpets.
