    Hi Judy,

My name is Linda. You can seal it with a clear spray if you want. If you've painted the entire thing it should help the paint adhere. Be sure to get one that has a good shine, especially if only part of the ornament is painted. There are also enamel opaque paint made for painting on glass. Folk Art made by Plaid is one that comes to mind. I think I've seen it at Walmart. It's made by the same people who make the Mod Podge products. I hope this helps. Wishing you happy crafting & Merry Christmas.

judy, I'm not 100% sure that they have an opaque, but it makes sense that they should. I just saw that Plaid Folk Art is recommended for glass. I did look it up and that paint came up when I searched for opaque glass paint. There is also a video that came up for a brand sold in the UK. It almost looks like it was put on thicker, allowed to dry, peeled off an acrylic backing then stuck to the glass. Maybe this technique will help you as well. Good luck!

If you're painting the outside of it, I highly recommend it! Home Depot/Lowe's sells a clear spray in satin, gloss and matte depending on the look you want. Test it on a small area first to make sure it doesn't eat away at the paint or the ornament.

Thanks so much for the information. I will check into that at Home Depot since there is one close to me. Have a Merry Christmas.

Judy - I like to paint the inside of glass ornaments for this reason. No sealant required!
