Can I lay laminate flooring over my tile floors?

    You should put a layer of luan plywood before you do. If you don't the laminate will mold to the tile and have indentations over time. I think that's the only drawback. My mother in law did it 20 years ago and you can see the underlying shape clear as day.

    Hi Dann,

    My name is Linda. It depends on the type of tile that is already on the floor. If it's a vinyl tile, it should be okay, but if it's ceramic tile the seams between the old tiles will eventually come through. You "could" fill those seams and level them on the floor, but the luan plywood would be a lot less work and would work better if you do have ceramic tile. Wishing you the best.

    Hello Traci here,I've done it before because that's what person wanted.I did and you might want to put a sheet of barrier down .Hope this helps
