How do I fix a rocking chair that goes too far forward and back?

    It has to do with the length of the rocker. The longer the rocker, the further it goes. So they need to be shortened.

      Yes a wedge or shin would probably work best. You would need good wood working skills to shorten the rockers

    Put a small piece of wood-wedge shaped; on the rockers at a point where you feel comfortable. Works like a stopper. You can still rock but not to the danger of turning over.

    Do not shorten the rockers. Will throw the rocker off balance. Add the wood stops to the rockers like Deanna suggests.

    Hi Al, hope this helps, you can stop a rocker recliner from rocking by placing something sturdy underneath it to prevent the rocking motion. This could be as simple as placing furniture coasters or rubber stoppers under the rocker base. This should allow the recliner to still function as a recliner without the rocking motion. Repeat for the front.
