How about using a garland (green) interspersed with christmas balls, pinecones and a string of lights. If you rummage in your house, you are bound to find items that would look great on your sill when you add lights and greenery.
I use pieces of garland and Santa plates or ornaments placed in the garland.
I use the artificial garland and wrap lights around it and put some Christmas candles my mom used to use on her sill, they are plastic and have Christmas bulbs where the flame would be, you just need to have a close outlet for them.
There are many ways to decorate window sills, battery operated candles is neat.
