Walls are all knotty pine and so are the cabinets. These are the only cabinets I have.
Paint the paneling and add some crown molding.

I am assuming you mean 1950,s house. There are paints that you can buy if you are looking for a cheap makeover. I pulled all mine down and I had to replaster the walls to hide all the damage it made.

I had that in a house in Morehead, MN. I marked off a chair rail height. Glued a red and white heavy cotton yardage to the upper portion, painted the lower portion in a high gloss red and covered the horizontal join with flat molding.
It was bright and cheery for those long, dark crossed -the -River-From -Fargo,ND winters. The grooves did not show through the cloth.
I stripped off the cloth at a later date with no problem.
Have fun in lightening that paneling.
