I love the seashell design!
Absolutely a hornet nest.
An insect I would definitely not want on my Carpet, thanks.
maybe a hornets nest???
This is a hornet's nest. Normally, people gas these before taking them in the house, just in case. A hornet sting is extremely painful. I had one where they had found something red, white and blue and it showed up on the nest. We had it hanging in the house, but it finally detriorated. Enjoy! Charlotte, NC was pronouced a "Hornet's nest" by Cornwallis in the 1700.
That's a wasps next !!!
Paper Wasp Nest You should sell it, It will sell for 150.00-250.00 on Ebay People buy them to use in Taxidermy mounting. It's in great shape are you sure it's empty???? If not and it gets warmed up they may start coming out.
Cannot blame you atall Maggie
Hi Maggie: I agree with Tray, it's a hornets nest, but to be more specific, I think it's an Asian or Bald Faced Hornets nest. Although beautiful, I'd leave it alone until it gets really cold out and the hornets go away. Both wasps and hornets are beneficial insects. They are good for gardens, as they eat flies, wasps, bees, locusts, beetles, caterpillars, dragonflies and spiders. But, they are both territorial and will sting. Some of the fertilized females will take off in the fall and start making nests for their spring babies. If you simply must keep the nest, here is a site that will tell you what to do and how to do it:
