How can I improve the look of carpeting?
Does anyone know if you can paint carpeting or do something else to improve the looks of carpeting? Thank you.

Someone told me they can be dyed, but I never tried it. Apparently there are companies that do that.
No, you can't paint carpet. I suppose a mentioned above you could dye it, but I would guess that would be more expensive (or equally as expensive as replacing it. The carpet companies use specialized color fast dyes. and, do bear in mind that if you try it yourself it's unlikely to hold and it the absorption will vary based on the type of fiber you have as well as how clean it is. Also, it may come off on your feet, clothes and pets if you try it yourself.
At the factory, the fiber is dyed before it's tufted.

You can dye it rather than paint it, but you need to understand that carpeting wears out - The nap gets wears shorter in traffic patterns, stains will show a different color when dyed and you can never get all the dirt imbedded in the fibers and backing out. It's really best to replace it.
LC, Rent a shampooer, and clean the rugs. This will pull up the nape in the carpet, which should make it like new. If you have any stains, pretreat. I recommend Resolve carpet cleaner for capet machines. You use very little solution, and the remainder you can use in a spray, for spots and stains. READ the directions, this product has a few precautions. This product can be found in the cleaning isle, or where you rent the machine. Use the RESOLVE for the best outcome. I don't know how much it costs to rent a machine, I have my own, Bissell. Aloha!
Nothing is better than having them professionally cleaned at least once a year. Makes a HUGE difference. I have mine done every 3 months, but I have a bunch of pets.
