How do I group Christmas balls for the tree?

I think you want to spread them out over the whole tree. :)

Bonnie, Start with large balls where there are bare spots. Next, don't place the same colors next to each other, or the same ball. Don't cover your tree completely so you can't see the tree. Leave some space, because when you have too much, people don't know where to look. I usually have 7 things the same, and I spread them apart. One on top 1 back, sides and bottom. When you hang ornaments near lights it makes them shine, don't over do it. Merry Christmas and Healthy New Year. Aloha!

I definitely wouldn't want to " group " them. I was taught to spread them out, beginning with the tiniest size balls/ornaments up at the top & increase the size of the ornaments as you work your way towards the bottom. Try to use only unbreakables on the very bottom as they get jiggled around & possibly knocked off whenever gifts under the tree are added or removed.

P.S. Of course if you have large gaps/holes, by all means place a large ornament there to fill it in :)

And if the tree is placed in a corner, don't bother to decorate the back as noone will see it.
