Hardware that I have to put back into the chair to make it look like the assembled chair below.
How do I assemble this chair?

It's taken me AGES but I've finally covered two of these chairs in another fabric and I removed the dark color from the wood parts and stained them a dark blue. So now I'm ready to put them all together again. I know what goes where but so far I haven't figured out how to do the assembling without finding someone to hold things in place for me while I put in the hardware. Shown below are the pieces of hardware. The long pieces are inserted from the outside of the wood into the top and bottom of the chair and the little barrel is inserted into a hole in the wood on the top and bottom of the chair and then they're screwed together. Does anyone know where I can find directions? I've looked at YouTube and just generally online but haven't found anything. How can this be done with just hands??? Or can it?
This is the "before" chair, fully assembled. Taking it apart was a piece of cake.
Well I would have used a tablet or cell phone to take photos of every step while dismantling, but that won't help you now. Use duct tape or painters tape as your "second set of hands" to hold things in place until you can get it back together. Assemble loosely until you know you get the right parts in the right place and once everything is assembled correctly, go back and tighten up. Or call a handyman to come and help. Shouldn't take more than a half hour.
I know what goes where. The problem is how to wrangle each piece into place, hold it there and at the same time insert the hardware. At this point, I'm going to try to use some boxes or maybe a low table to hold the wood while I try to hold the back and then the bottom. I might have to get a neighbor to come help me but would like to get it done myself. Might not be possible.
Clamps will assist even if you need to clamp it to a table or another chair.
Try using blue painters tape to hold the parts together. Usually there IS a sequence but without instructions....
These parts are too heavy for tape to hold them in place. I think putting the seats on first would be the logical place to start because then the whole think would stand up. Now, just to devise a way to get it done. Maybe I'll figure it out and then feel really stupid for not seeing the way to do it.
