How can I stop a peeling leather couch from shedding?

I have a leather electric recliner couch that the leather is peeling on. I know the leather can not be fixed. But, it there a way to adhere the peeling leather to the couch so that it doesn't rub off. Can I smear glue or something on it so I don't get leather bits all over? I can put a cover on it and feel just fine about it, if I can stop the little pieces of leather from rubbing off all over everything. Any replies will be welcome.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I've never heard of such a thing. Is there anything you can do with the manufacturer? It just doesn't sound right.

If it were me I would take another piece of fake leather/vinyl and lay it over top of the yucky stuff and just glue that right on if it's something as simple as just the seat. Try to color match it as closely as possible. There are some great glues out there and you can probably pick up a remnant at a fabric store. I had this happen to my massage table and it was a ROYAL PAIN! OR...you could consider taking a piece off the back if it's against the wall or something and use that piece of material. At least it would be an exact match and if no one saw the back of the chair you could put something less perfect on the back piece. Good Luck!

If your chair is peeling, then it is not genuine leather. It is bonded leather, which is a vinyl and leather mix heat-bonded onto a vinyl backing.

Unfortunately, it cannot be repaired in the same way as leather. Once this covering begins to peel, it cannot be stopped.

You can buy a repair kit or use Plastic leather that is backed with sticky which you can cut and apply just like Contact! on eBay!
