I would like to stain the concrete in my house by replacing my carpet with something easier to clean.

There will be some patching required where the tackstrip was nailed down around the edges and some concrete stains differently, concrete gets harder as it ages, but if I had concrete floors that i wanted stained I would hire someone that is in the business because they know the tricks to make it last

  • Think twice about this. Its a big jump to go from soft and squishy to hard and cold. Things break when dropped. If it snows where you live, keeping the rooms warm will increase your heating costs. Great if you are in a hot climate. For pets, children, elderly can be very uncomfortable. If anyone has arthritis, joint or back problems it can be down right miserable. For kitchens, use pro gel mats.

Consider sheet vinyl, plank vinyl as a low cost alternative.

Go ahead and stain them, as if you find you don't like it, they will be easier to cover.
