I did some looking around and besides perhaps finding an inexpensive shade to cover with your birch at a thrift store you could consider building the steel lamp shade frame out of coat hangers. Here's a simple tutorial on how to do that. They also covered this one with what looks like burlap or drop cloth, that might be an option too.
Hi Francois! Pretty much anything can be turned into a lamp with the help of a lighting kit! You should be able to find one at any home improvement store.

I read that it’s important to put a very specific textile inside the lampshade. I remember that is fire resistant textile. Unfortunately i don’t find where i can buy it.
