How do I fill in barn door gap?

I put up a barn door and there is about an inch gap from the door to the wall/trim in both sides. How can I fill this in so you cant see into the room? Should I add strips to the door itself or build out the trim. Gap is extra because I had to use a header strip to install.

Check your hinges & see if they're put on properly. If there's that much ofa gap, something's wrong. You might havta carve out a notch for the hinges to fit into like on a regular door of your house. Look at those & compare them to the barn doors. That might improve your gaps. Hope this helps. :)

Ok. No problem. My advice will be to color match your doors & get some of those """"under-the-door-draft-preventers"""" & adhere them to the side of the doors. As you open the doors, the rubber strip will bend & then go back into place as it closes. If they don't have any of your particular color, you could lightly paint them to match if u wanted. From a distance, you can't hardly tell they're there.

Hi, I would put a wider trim on it and offset it to cover the gaps on both sides, cheaper than buying a wider door. Or , you could add trim on the inside, but that will affect the size of the opening

      That will work!

I would add strips to the door and not change the trim. You want the same trim throughout. Otherwise it would look off,
