How do I get a disgusting smell out of my dishwasher?

I have tried every fix I know of i.e., running a cycle with vinegar, or baking soda, and cleaning out the base of the machine, and using the bottled cleaner and STILL I have a smell. It's OK after a cleaning but soon the smell gets so bad a person could gag from it - actually my grandson did!

First, clean your filter/screen, get rid of all old food and slime thats stuck to it. Then run a cup of Clorox through it.

Is it possible you have something stuck in your drainage line? Check the trap. Try a cycle with both the vinegar and baking soda to get the fizz to see if you can dislodge whatever is causing the problem.

Did you check the hose to make sure it's draining, properly, and not kinked?

Make sure the drain hose didn't drop and create a spot for food products to settle and decompose. Also check the filter screen.

After you have tried all of the above, put a bowl of spent coffee grounds in the unit. Close door and leave up to a day. Bad smells should disappear.

Orange Koolaid or Tang in the spot for detergent and run thru a cycle
