Maria,. I'd use a roller, but I'd take them off and paint them on a flat surface. You might need a primer, so the paint doesn't soak into the press wood. Aloha

Do you mean Medium Density Fiberboard? Does it have a thin vinyl face over it?

If so, it must be very clean & grease free, then very lightly sanded with 120 or higher grit sandpaper on a block, then re-cleaned and then primed with a bonding primer for plastic. and then painted with a paint made for plastic.

I would take a door or drawer front to a paint store, not a DIY big box store & ask them which primer & paint to use.

Since chips, gouges & flaws with have to be either filled before sanding, and paint “telescopes” all surface flaws, I would apply the paint with a faux sponge roller in a two-tone effect, as in, I’d buy two similar colors of paint.

We did ours one year with primer paint such as Kilz aroma free primer, then painted how we wanted. You can also Chalk paint anything without even sanding, just wash off first. Chalk paint also needs a cover to protect it like Polyurethane or Molyurethane.
