How do I care for my Hydrangeas that are turning yellow?

I live in Portland Oregon and my hydrangeas are turning yellow. I know its December but I thought they were evergreen. Are they ok?

Mine turn yellow and loose all their leaves every year. Come back in spring. Mine are not evergreen. I think yours will be ok.

  • Agreed. They are not evergreens.

I am not sure if they are ok, but you might try Epsom Salts. It helps plants utilize the sunshine better and grow greener or darker green.

My hydrangeas lose their leaves every fall...not sure what kind you have but the ones I'm familiar with are not evergreens.

Hydrangeas are not evergreens. Some hydrangeas flower on new growth and some on old.

Hi Sandra. They are fine. They will loose leaves just like a tree. They aren't an ever green. In spring you will see the buds and leaves forming. Some like to be cut back in fall while others don't. If I cut mine back I won't have any flowers next summer. The new growth and flowers grow from what appears to be dead twigs in winter.
